Jeep
Jeep brand SUVs are made by the American automaker Stellantis and are headquartered in Toledo, OH. They are known for go anywhere off road capability. They currently offer a range of crossover and rugged off road vehicles, including Compass, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler. The manufacturer also offer a pickup truck called Gladiator, plus new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models, along with electric 4xe and Trailhawk trims.
Information About Jeep
The military version of Jeep’s vehicle is designed by Willys Overland during World War II. The military uses the Jeep as its light utility vehicle, the Willys MB, and after World War II, Willys Overland uses the same basic design of the Willys MB for civilian use with early CJ models. These CJ Civilian Jeep models begin to shape the modern SUV lineup.
Currently, Jeep is a brand within the Stellantis Group and sits at the center of four wheel drive performance and off road capability. The used car buying audience is attracted to Jeep because of the authentic off-roading capability of their vehicles as well as the strong utility and aftermarket support available.
The Wrangler is clearly the most sought after Jeep model because resale values are generally the highest, and the ability to drive with the top down or in open-air has its own appeal. The Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Gladiator are also very reasonably priced but do not hold the same resale value as a Wrangler.
Also of interest to buyers is finding crossovers or 4×4 vehicles that are already equipped to handle year-round, trail-ready capability, including a range of technological advances by model and consistent use. In addition to those items listed above, sellers can help attract buyers of their used Jeeps by offering a letter with the service history, noting whether it has no modifications or has thoughtful upgrades over its lifetime, avoiding any rusted frame or underbody, and providing proper supporting documents for all aftermarket products installed on the vehicle.
Here are a few Jeep facts to consider before you sell:
- As further evidence of strong resale value, iSeeCars analysis of five years of depreciation shows that Jeep Wranglers generally lose about 35.3 percentage of their value after five years, or approximately $32,810. However, depreciation can vary considerably depending on the specific trim level, the vehicle mileage and condition, and the model year you consider. (iSeeCars)
- Jeep’s U.S. warranty booklet for 2024 model-year vehicles lists a factory warranty of three years or 36,000 miles basic limited and five years or 60,000 miles gas powertrain limited. Certain terms and conditions apply. Complete details of warranty coverage are found in the owner’s manual. Component types vary by warranty coverage. (Mopar (Jeep Warranty Information))
- According to the EPA, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has an overall rating of 49 MPGe. The electric portion of this vehicle has an EPA range of about 22 miles (with the site also listing an all-electric range band of 0–21 miles). (EPA (fueleconomy.gov))
- When properly outfitted, the 2024 Grand Cherokee L can haul a maximum of 7,200 lb (4×4, with the available 5.7-liter V-8). This depends on which engine, drivetrain, and trim level you use to configure the vehicle. (Jeep (Grand Cherokee L specifications PDF))
- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awards the 2024 to 2025 model year Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L Top Safety Pick honors. Eligibility and criteria for an award depend on the exact vehicle build and configuration, as well as IIHS testing criteria for that individual model year. (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety)
- According to one well-established source of vehicle pricing information, the base price MSRP for a 2024 Jeep Wrangler is $31,895 and has a destination fee of $1,795. However, the actual cost for a Jeep Wrangler varies based on which body style and trim are chosen. (Stellantis (Jeep brand))
- According to documents from the NHTSA, a recall is scheduled for late 2025 involving certain Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 2023 to 2025 and Wrangler 4xe 2024 to 2025 vehicles due to possible engine sand contamination that may lead to catastrophic engine failure, a vehicle fire, or loss of propulsion; the report lists planned interim owner notification starting December 29, 2025. (NHTSA)
- The Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator pickup are produced at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Toledo, Ohio, which helps sellers market their products as U.S. assembled. (Stellantis North America)
- According to iSeeCars research into the longest lasting vehicles, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has an approximately 4.5 percentage chance of reaching 200,000 miles, which is slightly higher than the study average for all SUVs at about 4.3 percentage. (iSeeCars)
