Saturn
Saturn is an American car brand originally owned by General Motors and based in Detroit, Michigan, before relocating to Spring Hill, Tennessee. Saturn focused on small and midsize vehicles offered at affordable prices, often described as Saturn value. Saturn eventually made SUVs too. However, Saturn ceases production of vehicles in 2009.
Information About Saturn
In the mid-1980s, General Motors sets up Saturn as a separate division to compete with import compacts using a new factory, a different type of dealer network, and an entirely different business model. Saturn begins production for the 1991 model year and eventually expands to include sedans, crossovers, and performance halo vehicles; however, General Motors discontinued Saturn following its bankruptcy restructuring in 2009.
Higher demand options include the S Series models SL, SC, and SW, as well as the Ion, Vue, Aura, and Sky, all of which provide drivers with an attractive starting price, practical vehicle size, and familiarity with GM service expectations. Consumers purchasing from a private seller often base their buying decisions on the condition and maintenance history of a vehicle, including interior cleanliness, working air conditioning, no warning lights illuminated, and proof of coolant and transmission service completion.
It is noted that even though Saturn is no longer in production, buyer confidence is enhanced because parts and service support exist within GM larger system structure.
Here are a few Saturn facts to consider before listing:
- General Motors Corporation starts Saturn as one of its affiliates or subsidiaries on January 7, 1985, and ultimately ceases operations on October 31, 2010 after an unsuccessful attempt to sell the company to a third party, Penske Automotive Group. All Saturn dealership locations are closed shortly thereafter, within the month of October. (WardsAuto; Reuters; Los Angeles Times)
- Saturn is launched in 1985 with about $150 million of capital and plans to spend roughly $5 billion over the following three to five years (this figure is merely an estimate for spending, and not actually a guarantee as to what is spent). (TIME)
- The original Saturn S Series is designed with both a steel spaceframe and dent resistant plastic body paneling, allowing many older Saturns to remain in good cosmetic condition with the body panels intact. (Saturn)
- Saturn is famous for its no haggle method of retail, which involves pricing in a manner that is intended to be simple compared with the traditional negotiating methods used at most dealerships in the United States. (WardsAuto)
- The 2007 model-year Saturn Aura won the 2007 North American Car of the Year award (passenger car). (North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year)
- Through its testing and award process, the IIHS gives both the 2008 Saturn VUE and the 2008 to 2009 Outlook a Top Safety Pick award, depending on configuration and model year. (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety)
- The 2009 Saturn VUE Hybrid four-cylinder has EPA ratings of 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The nonhybrid VUE ratings are lower and differ by engine and drivetrain. (EPA/DOE Fueleconomy.gov)
- A 2002 Saturn SL with a manual transmission has an EPA fuel economy rating of up to 25 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway (actual mileage rating will vary based on configuration). (EPA/DOE Fueleconomy.gov)
- A large GM safety recall includes the Saturn Ion produced between 2003 and 2007 and the Saturn Sky produced in 2007. The recall states that when certain conditions exist, the ignition key may move from the run position and create a loss of power and prevent an airbag from deploying; while the repairs are being made, GM recommends that owners keep their key rings as light as possible. Popular Saturn Vehicles Wanted
VCB purchases all models and trims of Saturn vehicles. We want all cars and trucks from compact sedans and coupes to wagons, crossovers, and SUVs.
We also buy Saturn vehicles that have high mileage, show normal current market values for their age, have been well-maintained but may have incomplete service histories or may have branded or salvage titles or may not include completion documents for minor repairs. Any damage caused by collisions, hail storms, run downs, or any type of exterior cosmetic or mechanical failure is not considered a reason we cannot inspect your vehicle.
When we make our evaluation, we consider the overall condition of the car, its title, and any repairs needed to make it legal to drive on public roads again. We make a competitive cash offers and can buy your Saturn today!
