    Smart begins as Micro Compact Car (MCC) in 1994 through a partnership between Daimler-Benz and Swatch to create a small city vehicle for urban use. Smart two seat city car, the smart fortwo, is introduced in 1998 and becomes the company defining model. In 2020, Mercedes-Benz AG and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group enter into a 50 50 joint venture to reposition Smart as a purely electric vehicle brand.
